The 2014 Amintaphil conference will be held Oct. 9-12 at Chapman University in Orange, CA, hosted by Gordon Babst. The theme is Immigration and Citizenship. You can access conference information and the call for papers here: http://www.pdcnet.org/amintaphil/Conferences-and-Meetings
The due date for principal papers is Aug. 31. Please remember that you must be a current member of AMINTAPHIL to submit a paper for the conference. You can become a member here: http://www.pdcnet.org/amintaphil
Gordon has provided additional information which will be posted to the website along with a registration form in the coming days:
First, the conference hotel – the boutique Aryres Inn on Chapman Avenue in Orange, CA – has reserved 60 rooms for us at the conference rate of $109/night for either one king size bed or two queen size beds for those who might share a room. The Ayres provides a tasty hot breakfast complimentary to its guests. While the Ayres prefers that each conference attendee wait until July 20 to book a room (call the hotel directly at 714-978-9168 and use the code “AMINT”), rooms can be booked prior to July 20 by emailing our conference coordinator Veronica Guzman at firstname.lastname@example.org and using the code “AMINT”.
Secondly, the best airport to fly into is Orange County’s John Wayne Airport – SNA – which should be merely one-stop away from pretty much anywhere in the U.S. For example, United Airlines flies nonstop into SNA at least three times a day from its hubs in San Francisco (SFO), Denver (DEN), Houston (IAH), Chicago (ORD), and Newark (EWR). Most AMINTAPHIL members will gain time flying west, and so the conference opening reception time should not be a problem. By the end of summer I will have obtained a code from the airport shuttle for a conference discount rate between SNA and the Ayres, which is about 8 miles. We will have a bus to transport us between the Ayres and Chapman, though the trip times have yet to be calculated – probably about 15 minutes.
I look forward to seeing you in CA in October!
